7-Day Great Migration (Jun–Oct)
A one-week safari designed to follow the Great Migration in Northern Serengeti. From June to October, huge herds gather near the Mara River, and crossings can happen any day. You travel in a private 4×4 with an experienced driver-guide. Start and finish in Arusha (fly from Zanzibar to Arusha if needed). You can fly to/from the Serengeti to save time.
Itinerary
Day 1: Arusha (or Zanzibar) → Serengeti North
Morning pickup. Fly or drive to the Kogatende/Lamai area.
Afternoon game drive near the Mara River.
Dinner and overnight in Northern Serengeti.
Day 2: Serengeti North — Mara River area
Sunrise game drive to look for herds and predators.
Picnic lunch in the bush or hot lunch at camp.
Afternoon search along known crossing points.
Overnight in Northern Serengeti.
Day 3: Serengeti North — full day
Flexible full day following herd movements.
Optional hot-air balloon at dawn (extra).
Overnight in Northern Serengeti.
Day 4: Serengeti North — second full day
Another full day focused on crossings and big-cat sightings.
Sunset views and overnight in Northern Serengeti.
Day 5: Serengeti North → Central Serengeti
Unhurried game drive south toward Seronera (great for big cats).
Check in, relax, and enjoy an evening drive.
Overnight in Central Serengeti.
Day 6: Central Serengeti → Ngorongoro/Karatu
Morning game drive in Seronera.
Drive toward Ngorongoro; optional stop at Olduvai Gorge (extra).
Overnight on the crater rim or in Karatu.
Day 7: Ngorongoro Crater → Arusha
Early descent into the crater for a half-day game drive.
Picnic by the hippo pool, then drive back to Arusha or connect to your flight.
Trip ends.
